He then moved to New York where he completed a residency at St. Luke's-Roosevelt Hospital. Dr. Cercone is a residency-trained optometrist specializing in ocular disease and family practice. She performs comprehensive eye exams including refractions, contact lens fits (soft and rigid gas permeable), and management and treatment of ocular disease not requiring surgical intervention.
Dr. Cercone grew up in Sarasota, FL, the sunshine state where she earned her bachelors degree in marine biology at Eckerd College in St. Petersburg, FL. She first became interested in vision while working on a senior thesis project on visual allometry of deep sea fish. At the time, Dr. Cercone was considering various healthcare fields as a future career path. When Dr. Cercone started shadowing local optometrists to learn more about the field, she immediately knew that was the career for her.
In her spare time, Dr. Cercone enjoys rock climbing, scuba diving and traveling.
